cutler and gross
It's not often you get a chance to take a dive into a sea of shades. Back in London - yes, this is long overdue - I had the pleasure of meeting up with Cutler and Gross' creative (nothing short of chic and fabulous), and took a tour around the museum that also houses their bespoke service for customers looking for more. A few steps up some spiral stairs, passed a collage that includes Rocket Man, Madge, and a few other legendaries who sport the brand, you're then greeted (maybe slightly thrown back) by what may at first seem like a mirage - a myriad of shades and colors curated from the brand's inception to present day.
Two editorials conceptualized by Monica herself that elicit a nostalgic world of old meets new. On the right, a glimpse at one campaign - a Hong Kong Love Story that evokes feelings of romance and brings you back to the days of cheongsam and daily mahjong sessions. On the left, AW'12 The Golden Trail - hello Morocco, fine beading, and everything my free spirit craves (see the full editorial, you may just fall in love).
Just a few must haves (these pictures don't include the must must-haves known as 0886). From the top - some bright and delicate frames; some round, bold 1069s; possibly a lucite teal shade; and lastly there's nothing better than clear, plexy, handcrafted piece. Agreed?
