THE GOH TO

lace on lace

Lace is nothing short of feminine, and this fabric is perfect when it comes to playing around with texture in any ensemble this fall. In my most recent styling collaboration with Ann Taylor, I decided to give two of my favorite pieces my personal twist by adding some tough leather accents for a much-needed balance. Whether I'm running to meetings during the day in a lace pencil skirt or playing up a boxy lace top for a night out, this versatile fabric is a must have. A pencil skirt is one of those wardrobe essentials that I grow tired of quickly -- mainly because the variety is usually lacking -- so when one that stretches beyond the typical fabric, I immediately gravitate toward it. This one, with its lace crocheting and bi-color floral pattern is subtle enough but still adds a pop to an everyday ensemble. The loose top gives the usually hip-hugging skirt a more casual appeal while the classic pumps still keep it rather polished.

When I'm transitioning into a night look, there's nothing more appealing than an outfit that provides a stark contrast to my makeup. As my summer glow begins to wear, I heavily rely on a bright lip and any color that contrasts well with that -- usually black. This weighted lace sweater adds dimension and is the perfect contrasting piece that makes getting dressed simple. Paired with the tough leather skater skirt, slinky heels -- remnants from the summer -- and some accessories, this outfit is perfect for date night, and can even go well if you're throwing in a pair of flats for a more casual look.
