mohair over manhattan
I have to admit that when I first laid eyes on this sweater, repressed childhood memories of being forced to wear "itchy" sweaters during winter in LA (I was tiny and always cold), resurfaced. The lumpy green and white sweater that I remember best, was seemingly difficult at start, but as the day passed by, and my young self became preoccupied with cherry bombs off high bars, kickball in the quad, and discussions about wearing one overall strap versus two, the thoughts of being itchy lie abandoned somewhere on the playground asphalt. These memories distant, but all the childhood cavorting seems to still exist in my life, sans cherry bombs and kickball. As my sister and I played tourist around Manhattan last week and wished for the simpler days when overalls were the most important topic of discussion, it seemed the chill around me could easily be ignored with this mohair she brought me from London. A deep beige in the form of mohair, a swipe of deep rouge lip and some leather pants is simple enough to satisfy my 20-something year old self these days.
