Rose Water Pancakes And Waffles
Tried adding a little rose water to the usual weekend carbohydrates to change things up. I got a waffle maker over Christmas so I decided to take it on a test drive a few weekends ago when there was continuous downpour outside, and the I decided to play test kitchen. The rose water gives the fluffy cakes and waffles an added fragrant scent, and are great paired with the sweet berry compote. --
Rose Water Waffle and Pancake Mix
1 tablespoon of rose water
Buttermilk pancake/waffle batter
1/2 pints blueberries
1/2 pints raspberries
1/2 pint blackberries
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
Maple Syrup Butter
Powdered sugar
Heat oven to 100. Prepare either pancakes or waffles according to package instructions -- for a gluten-free recipe, click here. Add rose water along with the rest of the wet ingredients. Turn off oven, and place waffles/ pancakes in the oven to keep warm.
To prepare berry compote, combine the berries, sugar and lemon juice in a medium saucepan and simmer until the juices are released, about 7 minutes. Let cool.
Serve with maple syrup, butter, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar.
