THE GOH TO

St. Regis Aspen

The closest I ever got to snow as a child was when my family took a trip to Lake Arrowhead one weekend. My mom screamed the entire way up the mountain, fearing that her life was put in grave danger thanks to my dad’s need for “adventure” - needless to say, she didn’t get out much. We arrived to admire the icy lake and the remaining chunks of ice on the ground, had lunch and immediately retreated back home. Fast forward years later, I had an opportunity to camp in a snow-covered Yosemite with my senior class. A decision I truly regretted at the time, but looking back it’s probably where I first developed this obsession with snow.

I have to say that I fit really fit the stereotypical West Coaster - one enamored by snow and the entire wintry aesthetic. I love when a blizzard hits New York, I love dressing up in snow gear and calling a “snow day” an adventure.

However, there was no real dramatic moment to this adventure. When Marriot Bonvoy decided entertain me in Aspen at the Snow Polo Classic, I had to jump at the opportunity.

I learned to snowboard when I was in college thanks to my best friend Amanda but couldn’t pass up an opportunity to learn to ski at a world-renowned skiing destination.

The trip to Aspen was nothing short of exceptional, with a stay at the stunning St. Regis hotel and unforgettable experiences at the Polo Classic events. After settling in, I headed out to explore Aspen's famous Apres Ski scene - a lively and luxurious Apres Ski culture, with a plethora of bars, restaurants, and lounges.

One of my favorite spots was The Little Nell, which boasts an extensive wine list and an impressive selection of craft cocktails. The atmosphere was beyond lively and fun.

The next day, I attended the Polo Classic event, which was held at the beautiful Aspen Valley Polo Club. The event was a showcase of the sport of polo, with several matches taking place throughout the day. The scenery was breathtaking, with the snow-capped mountains serving as a stunning backdrop to the action on the field.

Overall, my first visit to Aspen, Colorado was an incredible experience. The St. Regis hotel provided an unparalleled level of luxury and comfort, while the Apres Ski and Polo Classic events were unforgettable highlights of my trip.
