a few good things

I didn’t start investing in items for the home until I moved into my second apartment in New York.  Sometimes, part of me wishes that I never started  just so I could instead spend the entirety of my income on shoes, but that wouldn’t be realistic.  I’d probably have friends hosting an intervention for my hoarding problem at that point.

For those who share an affinity for home decor and fashion, you can probably relate.

Regardless, I do think how your home is a direct reflection of you, just like personal style.  So it makes sense to “invest” in both fashion and home (the “” are necessary because my boyfriend believes clothing isn’t an investment considering it depreciates in value after the first wear).

This week’s round-up consists of things under $100 range, except the short boots, but they’re two cocktails away from $100 so close enough.  These are just a few pieces that I’ve been wearing and using lately.  From minimalistic jewelry and classic plaid, to a new seasonal cookbook and scented soaps for the home, here are a few good things in home and personal style.

LUV AJ ring, $23 // NOIR earrings, $55 // JCREW turtleneck shirt // H&M velvet crossbody // KEVYN AUCOIN 'creamy glow' // REPORT 'toby' boots // ZARA plaid skirt

-  Minimalism in the form of a silver statement ring and these talon earrings (if I had my ears pierced). -  I'm ready to embrace the return of dickies collars, but a neutral turtleneck is perfect for thicker layering. -  Been wearing this velvet bag with everything (here, here, and here). Truly a great budget piece to have if you’re not ready to invest in that Chanel. -  Discovered this creamy blush backstage at the shows during NYFW and haven’t been able to stop wearing this on a daily. -  Pony hair, slight heel, perfect amount of hardware in a boot that will  last me through the next six months of the cold season. -  An update from Cher Horowitz signature and a piece that makes getting dressed this fall that much easier.

FRANNY'S simple seasonal italian cookbook // FRESH PEONIES // SAIPUA soaps, $10 // CHAMBRE DE SUCRE mini sugar, $13 // EVOLUTION coasters, $10 // LE CREUSET mortar and pestle set

- A sweet surprise gift from the Hirshleifers about simple, seasonal, and italian.  Three of my favorite things about food all bundled up in one book! - Fresh and in-season, I'm filling my house with these fragrant peonies from the flower district in Chelsea. - These soaps are a find from Brooklyn. Yes, I still consider going to BK as an adventure but it makes my trips that much more special. - Alright, so I have to admit that these are a bit of a luxury buy but coffee in the morning just got that much better with these intricately decorated sugars. - My boyfriend and I made a trip to this store a few months ago and got a bunch of mismatched coasters -- sturdy and adds a bit of charm to the apartment. - A new tool for the kitchen to grind up herbs and things for upcoming fall and winter recipes.
