a few good things | the front slit edit

No doubt that the finger-tip numbing, chapped lip generating, how do I keep my nose from falling off weather has us thinking about quadruple layering, fur, running our hands under hot water, and questions like "would you rather, burn or freeze to death".  And even though I can't imagine baring a mere sliver of skin at the moment, I can't pass up talking about these front slit pants.  You're probably aware by now that I'm pretty fond of all-black anything (esp. when it comes to pants) at the moment, but these pants are different.  Different because of their ability to extend inseams both long and short.  An ultimate goal in dressing, really.  And even better when paired with a pair of pointed heels.  I can probably go on and style these in 20 different ways, but duties outside blogging call, so in the meantime, here are two different ways of dressing them up, down, all around in these interweb flat lays.

The weekday look.  This classic buttondown shirt in this shade of blue is bright but not overpowering, and can easily be layered under a coat or a more tailored sweater. A few accessories like an over-sized print clutch and simple jewelry help tie everything together to create an edgy yet polished ensemble.  Tome shirt (on sale).  JBrand skinny jeans.  Oliver Peoples sunglasses. Clare Vivier clutchASOS choker.  Stella McCartney booties.

Laid back look.  I like keeping my weekend outfits comfortable while still looking put together.  These pants are very fitted, which are completely opposite from "relaxed", so it's good to find separates that are a bit more low-key -- a chunky knit, pair of flats, oversized outerwear, and minimal accessories help keep that comfort.  ACNE shearling jacket (SERIOUS investment piece).  TopShop knit.  JBrand jeans.  3.1 Phillip Lim D'Orsay flats ($20 alternative here).  Cross The Line cuff.  Commes de Garcon wallet.
