January's normally the month where gym and yoga sessions are in full swing, and every other juice cleanse is being tested out, so I thought I'd start off the new year with something light for that morning diet. Now, I'm not a fan to losing time to breakfast during the week, especially when my mornings always beg for my undivided, sleep-deprived attention. And here in New York, where it's easy to grab anything on the go, breakfast is somewhat of an afterthought, that is until mid-morning and my body craves something semi-unhealthy because stress levels are its peak. And to be honest, I've grown pretty tired of blending the same berries, and I've never liked the smell of blended bananas. The thought of smelling them makes me cringe. So as the kick-start of the new year, I've been blending something a bit new. Mulberries. Typically in season in the Spring, but got lucky and found a batch at the farmer's market here in New York. I have to give thanks to my mom for this one -- always on the horizon for the newest, freshest, healthiest of fruits, vegetables, and other remedies to rejuvenate the body. So here's the quick and simple way to making something healthy while multi-tasking, and an alternative usual go-to egg sandwich in the morning.
Blend together a mix of mulberries, frozen cherries, one kiwi, 2 tbsp chia seeds, 2 tbsp of a powder mix (I swear by Navitas), 1/2 cup original unsweetened almond milk, 1 tbsp of raw honey, and a few raw almonds.
