A Fall/Winter wardrobe could easily consummated through a few staple pieces, and sweaters are among one those. I'll blame Mother Nature when it comes to drastic drops in temperatures like what we've experienced these past few days in New York, or perhaps more appropriately, global warming. Regardless, I'll hold that subject for another day and focus on discussing sweaters/jumpers/ pullovers/ whatever you really want to call them, and how JLaw in this November's British Vogue schools us taking headshots. So good, right?
Realistically, it's a constant seesaw between too bulky, and too thin and not warm enough. But when it comes to matters of the knit wear sort, the beauty is such that the options are endless - crew neck, turtleneck, half neck, v-neck, etc., and more importantly, the textural benefits are ideal for any outfit. Take for example the six I've curated below.
Duffy's cable knit is classic and versatile. One of those sweaters that could just as easily worn during nights in, as it could be worn over a pencil skirt in the more professional settings. Then, there are options that Topshop always brings forth in matters of affordability. A knitted 'grunge jumper' is what everyone NEEDS - the best form of basics for under anything from shorts to corduroys. Ah, Kenzo and the "playful" knit ... a new take on the mundane stripe look. Figure flattering stripes layered under just about any Fall/Winter jacket, preferably a leather bomber. Then, onto adding a massive pop of color in the form of waffles through with some Vanessa Bruno. My policy is normally if you're uncomfortable with something, just do it big - so if it's turtlenecks, go all the way and choose 'em bright. Last but not least, let's get cute with bows and lips - but cute in the form of cute cute and edgy-cute. A little flirty addition of bows never hurts, and some gobsmacking sequin-cluster lips, naturally work in any scenario.
