Play Nice
Always giving my feminine pieces that tom-boy touch, this time pairing a double slit skirt with sneakers and a tee. I wore this outfit for a lunch date at the new Nolita eatery Seamore's last week and with what initially started off as a sexy separate, was quickly transformed. I'm not sure if it's age or just my overall environment, but taking these sexier wardrobe separates and toning them down into more well-rounded ensembles is my idea of comfort. We ended up wandering back to the East Village after the midweek pick-me-up of seafood and wine, so sneakers were definitely the best and only option anyway. On another note, this 'play nice' tee is part of anti-bullying campaign (not sponsored), something that's very important to me. Despite the fact that the internet has served as a platform to foster incredibly positive change in my life, it has also been a place that can breed negativity and bullying. Bullying was something I dealt and witnessed a lot of growing up. From being constantly picked on by a group of boys in the fourth grade for being too much of a tomboy and my first cyber-bullying experience in high school, to witnessing my youngest sister -- someone who strives despite Down Syndrome and other disabilities -- face bullying all her life, I realized we're not alone. I wish that we can continue to learn the importance for accepting people for who they are, support one another, and champion any difference. Spread the word, be kind, and show compassion.
