September Makeup Buys
Even though beauty is one of the more sporadic topics on this blog -- I'm still working on experimenting more and more -- I love sharing with you every time I add new makeup to the mix, especially when it's a brand new haul. Recently I was waiting on a friend for lunch in the Meatpacking when I popped into Sephora to pick up a new liquid eyeliner. I was reaching for my usual Stila Stay All Day pen (which I still love) when the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner caught my attention. Long story short, one thing led to the next and I had convinced myself that not only did I need a eyeliner, but also new mascara, concealer, and bronzer -- in my defense, I was running low on all three of those things. So here we are with a face of fresh new makeup. Which is actually perfect considering it's a new season and the post-summer skin is most likely thirsting for something fresh. From foundation to bronzer, here's what made my list for the month.
+ L'Oréal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation. I love when my complexion looks very matte, and this product does the trick by keeping my skin shine free all day even in this summer humidity. More importantly, my skin is currently in this awkward in-between stage coming off summer tan and preparing for a long pale winter, and the color match of this product is actually perfect. It doesn't leave my skin grey and dull but also gives me that subtle glow without feeling orange. The only con is that if you have dry or combination skin like myself, you may want to consider combining it with something that has a bit of moisture like a bb cream. +
+ Sephora Bright Future Gel Serum Concealer in 'custard'. I tried this product off a recommendation and it's a product I recommend if you creases or chronic milia under your eyes like myself. I'm always self-conscious about my under eye area especially I developed a bad case of milia a years ago that simply won't let up. It's just something I've embraced over the years, but I'm always looking for good products that help conceal a bit more than draw attention to my under eye area. This one works pretty well in terms of color match, moisturizing, and filling in any fine lines; and it's also budget-friendly.+
+ Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. As mentioned before, I swear by Stila eyeliner, but this one is my new favorite. Unlike most liquid eyeliner where you need to apply a bit of pressure, this brush makes the application process really simple with its fine brush. It also lasts all day and has been smudge-proof so far!+
+ Yves Saint Laurent Voluminous Mascara for a False Lash Effect. Like most women, I'm always on the hunt for the best mascara. I currently love this and the one from Origins. Together they really open up my eyes and lengthen while separating my thick, shorter lashes. I'm not looking to have that glam lash look, so this does the trick in giving me the natural length. +
+ MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Sculpting Duo. If you're reading this, you know that I love my bronzer and recently I've been experimenting with contouring but I'm still more about a more natural look so this powder sculpting does the trick by giving me a subtle glow with the top highlighter, while adding some definition to my cheeks. I would recommend a more loose brush to apply the product so it doesn't pack on too much color.+
